July 5th 2025: today we visited the pixar office and listened to many stories. visual output like drawing or sculpting takes a lot of time and effort, and text feels almost effortless in comparison. The person showing us around told me if I just drew one thing a day I would get where I wanted to given a year or two. I have the energy but not the motivation to. although if one day I want to be able to draw something on command I won't want to wait a year or two to build the skills for it. Pixar had a huge culture. It shaped people, and I was surprised to learn for some it was their whole life. There was a picture of somebody on the wall who was always there first in the morning and seemed to have lived for his work. He never married. On his deathbed he was surrounded by coworkers at pixar. It seemed to have left quite an impression on a designer from cursor who went with us. He remarked that he came away wanting to work there.
I have access to a 8xh100 now, but it feels like nothing.
